One day on a sidewalk

One day on a sidewalk
With my legs heavy from exercising
I sit upon a stretch of concrete
Marking the end of someone’s garden

It’s been a while since I sat
Near the ground like this
The warmth of the afternoon sun
Tingles my face and bare hands

Then I see it
A pill bug
Lazily crossing the sidewalk
With the sunshine on his back

That’s when I become aware
That I am alive
And that we are in the middle of
Adventure called life
