In this memory, I’m about four. I’m travelling on a bullet train with my family when I spot a balloon flying over the field outside the window.
“What’s that?” I ask my father sitting next to me. It’s not only a strange place for a balloon to fly, but this balloon seems to fly very high.
“That’s an advertising balloon,” comes my father’s reply. “People sometimes advertise their products on a balloon like that.”
“Why?”
“Because everybody can see it,” explains my father. “Just now, we’re watching the balloon, aren’t we? That means it’s successful at catching people’s attention!”
I’m not sure if I get the concept of the advertising balloon, but its impressive sight is now etched to my memory.
