Time-travelling

It is a special day
The day of your wedding
My friend
My childhood friend

We grew up together
The three of us and our little siblings
In that community of
Tiny half-dilapidated apartments

Everybody was there
On everybody’s special occasion
Our mothers, fathers, and siblings
And us

Like when we had our
Annual piano performance
At the music school
And we all showed up in pretty dresses

Today as I put on the shoes
Wearing my best dress
I have the strangest feeling
That I am back in that time

That they’re all waiting
Our mothers, fathers, and siblings
And we’ll be running around
Until it’s time to go home
